My Oratio

It’s true. The demands of the day are many, yet I need not feel guilty about spending this time with you, Lord. I know that everything bends to my favor when I do.

What I discover is quite inexplicable. It takes less time to accomplish more when I rest in contemplation first. I have proved this to myself over and over again. Why do I forget?

In fact, why do I get wrapped up in the urgency of the moment in the first place? Is anything really urgent? Doesn’t life have a way of sorting itself out?

This, then, is what is vital. Rest in communion.

  • Commune with the day.
  • Commune with silence.
  • Commune, even, with the noises of the world.

I ask but one thing, dear Lord. May your Holy Spirit fill me to the brim reverberating even in the threads of my marrow.

Please know that I do try to see things the way you do. I do try to remember your precious words.

Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Matthew 6:27

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7

This is me knocking, Lord. Please, open the door of my heart. May your goodness and mercy come flooding through me that I might share such kindness with all the world.

Here, then, is my oratio. The overflowing of Divine Purpose. Only given. Only received.

Blessed be.
