Mindfulness

« Back to Glossary Index

Mindfulness is a perspective and practice that aims to experience life directly, without preference or prejudice.

Mindfulness entails watching our body, mind, emotions, and experiences (the four foundations of mindfulness) in a calm, detached, non-judgmental way that’s both welcoming and accepting. This is done with great curiosity and kind regard, as we allow experiences to pass through us without rejecting them or becoming overly attached. Mindfulness is a complete reversal of our usual approach of grasping, rejecting, and ignoring experience.
